Hello, blog world!
There's a few things you should know about me.
I love live music. When I'm in a good space at a concert, the experience is spiritual - I am culturally Jewish but have never felt as spiritually connected to the world as I do at the right show.
I love dancing - the only thing I really ever have a real interest in doing as these shows is raging as hard as I can. One clarification - "raging" does NOT mean drug use. Sure, these things happen at shows - but I can and do rage as hard as I can at a show when I'm completely straight! Since I love to dance... and that's pretty much all I do at a show... people around me tend to think I'm just fucked up - but in reality my eyes and ears are open. I'm an observer of the sound, the people around me, and the world.
I'm a huge freaking nerd. I'm such a nerd that I have kept a list of every concert I've ever attended since my first show (The Dead @ PNC Bank Arts Center Homdel NJ 8/11/2004). In the calendar year of 2011 - I saw 223 shows. To be clear - a show is clarified by being over 70% of a single performance played by a single band. I only count the bands at festivals that I've seen that percentage of. These are not 223 unique bands. For example - I saw Dopapod 10 times, Phish 8 times, Furthur 7 times, Umphrey's McGee 6 times - and so on.
I plan to continue these shenanigans in 2012 - and thought that a blog might be an interesting outlet creatively - I teach full time and express myself in the classroom - but this would be a welcome change of pace and distraction.
I hope the few of you internet folks who read this blog will be entertained!
Love,
Adam
